Lenovo ThinkSystem FAN Option Kit 4F17A12349

The Lenovo ThinkSystem FAN Option Kit (4F17A12349) is a cooler designed to improve airflow and cooling efficiency in ThinkSystem servers. Available in black and silver, this fan option kit is compatible with Lenovo SR650 servers and other ThinkSystem models that require an additional fan module for proper thermal management. It supports configurations that use 2nd Generation Intel processors where an extra fan option is required.

Advantages

The fan kit increases system cooling capacity and helps maintain stable operating temperatures under heavy workloads. It supports hot-swap installation in compatible chassis and integrates with the server's existing fan arrangement to provide N+1 redundancy when used in the recommended configurations. The kit's design matches ThinkSystem styling and fits Lenovo-specified fan slots.

Suitable for

• Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 servers (2nd Gen processor configurations)
• ThinkSystem models requiring an additional hot-swap fan module
• Data center and rack server environments needing improved airflow

Key specifications

• Manufacturer: Lenovo
• Model / MPN: 4F17A12349
• Type: Cooler / Fan option kit
• Colour: Black, Silver
• Compatibility note: Designed for ThinkSystem servers; required for certain SR650 2nd Gen CPU configurations

How to use

Install the fan kit into the designated hot-swap fan slot of a compatible ThinkSystem server following Lenovo service documentation. For SR650 models with two processors, ensure all required system fans are present to achieve the intended cooling redundancy. Use anti-static precautions during installation and power down the server if instructed by the hardware guide, unless performing a supported hot-swap operation.

Recommendations

Confirm server model and processor generation before purchasing to ensure compatibility. Refer to the SR650 hardware manual for fan positions and N+1 configuration guidance; replace faulty fans with Lenovo-approved parts to maintain warranty and proper thermal performance.
