Hladnjak Noctua NH-U9 TR4-SP3

The Noctua NH-U9 TR4-SP3 is a compact tower CPU cooler specifically tailored for AMD TR4/SP3 platforms (Ryzen Threadripper / Epyc). It features an enlarged 70 x 56 mm copper contact surface to match large integrated heat-spreaders, a SecuFirm2 mounting system for easy and secure installation on TR4/SP3 sockets, and a push/pull configuration with two quiet NF-A9 PWM 92 mm fans. The package includes Noctua’s NT-H1 thermal compound and a six-year manufacturer’s warranty, making the NH-U9 TR4-SP3 a space-efficient solution for high-performance workstation and server builds.

Advantages

The cooler combines a compact footprint (95 mm width and 125 mm height) with high compatibility and PCIe clearance, allowing use in smaller cases and 4U rack-mount enclosures without overhanging the top PCIe x16 slot. Dual NF-A9 PWM fans provide effective airflow with PWM-based automatic speed control and optional Low-Noise Adaptors to limit maximum speed from 2000 to 1550 rpm for quieter operation. The SecuFirm2 mounting system ensures straightforward, reliable installation, while the included NT-H1 thermal compound supports low thermal resistance and professional-grade reliability.

Suitable for

• Compact workstation and server builds using AMD TR4 or SP3 CPUs
• Systems with limited clearance where PCIe x16 compatibility is required
• 4U rack-mount enclosures and small form factor towers

How to use

Prepare the motherboard and processor according to the motherboard manufacturer’s instructions. Apply a small, even amount of the supplied NT-H1 thermal compound onto the CPU heat-spreader. Position the NH-U9 TR4-SP3 so the enlarged copper base sits flush on the processor IHS, align the SecuFirm2 mounting, and secure the heatsink by tightening the four spring-loaded screws until firmly seated. Connect the NF-A9 PWM fan cables to the CPU fan (or PWM-capable) header on the motherboard. Optionally, fit the Low-Noise Adaptors to lower maximum fan speed for quieter operation.

Recommendations

Ensure case airflow is adequate when using a compact cooler: provide at least one intake and one exhaust fan to maintain optimal thermal performance. Verify clearance around RAM and PCIe slots before installation and consult motherboard documentation for proper mounting on TR4/SP3 sockets.
