AC adapter INTER-TECH KT048 PCIe na SFF-8639 (U.2) – model 88885561

AC adapter INTER-TECH KT048 PCIe to SFF-8639 (U.2) model 88885561 converts a standard PCIe slot into an SFF-8639 (U.2) interface to attach U.2 NVMe drives. The adapter provides a physical and electrical bridge that allows modern U.2 storage devices to be connected to systems with available PCIe lanes, supporting streamlined integration into desktops, workstations, and server platforms without altering the drive itself.

Advantages

The adapter maintains native PCIe bandwidth and supports direct NVMe communication to connected U.2 drives, enabling high-speed data transfer and low-latency storage access. Its design preserves the original drive form factor and electrical connections, allowing hot-swap capable bays or cabled installations where applicable. Installation does not require drive modification and is compatible with systems that provide necessary PCIe lanes and power through the adapter.

Suitable for

• Integrating U.2 NVMe drives into desktop workstations
• Upgrading server storage with U.2 devices via PCIe slots
• Storage expansion in compact systems and chassis without native U.2 ports
• Testing and validation of U.2 NVMe drives in development environments

Key specifications

• Interface conversion: PCIe x4/x8/x16 (dependent on host slot lane availability) to SFF-8639 (U.2) connector
• Supported protocol: NVMe over PCIe (native NVMe commands and features)
• Form factor compatibility: 2.5" U.2 NVMe drives
• Power delivery: provides required drive power through adapter connection when host supplies appropriate power rails
• Physical dimensions: low-profile bracket compatible with standard PCIe slots (exact dimensions depend on adapter revision)

How to use

Power off the system and insert the adapter into a suitable PCIe slot that provides the required number of lanes. Secure the adapter in the chassis and connect the U.2 NVMe drive to the SFF-8639 port on the adapter. Restore power and verify that the system BIOS/UEFI recognizes the NVMe device; install or update NVMe drivers or firmware if required by the operating system. Ensure that the host provides sufficient PCIe bandwidth and power for the attached drive for optimal performance.

Recommendations

Use the adapter in systems with available PCIe lanes matching the drive performance expectations (preferably x4 or higher for NVMe). Confirm chassis clearance and airflow for proper cooling of U.2 drives. For servers and mission-critical deployments, verify compatibility with the system BIOS/UEFI and perform testing before production use.
