Renkforce 973767 — SATA to P-ATA/IDE adapter is an interface converter that enables connection of legacy P-ATA/IDE hard drives and optical drives to modern SATA hosts. The adapter converts SATA signals to parallel ATA formats, allowing access to data on older drives without internal modification or additional power adapters when used with compatible power sources. It is intended for tasks such as data transfer, cloning, temporary access during repairs and migrations between systems with differing drive interfaces.

Advantages

The adapter provides straightforward compatibility between SATA hosts and P-ATA/IDE devices, simplifying access to legacy storage media. Its compact inline design requires no permanent modification of the drive or host, and it supports standard P-ATA device modes so that common IDE hard drives and optical drives can be recognized by the SATA interface. The converter is useful for technicians and users who need to read, copy or migrate files from older drives while maintaining a minimal setup footprint.

Suitable for

• Data recovery from old IDE/P-ATA hard drives
• Cloning or imaging legacy drives to SATA systems
• Temporary connection of optical IDE drives to SATA-only systems
• Desktop repairs and component testing involving mixed-interface systems

Key specifications

• Interface conversion: SATA (host) to P-ATA/IDE (device)
• Supported device types: 3.5" and 2.5" IDE hard drives, IDE optical drives
• Signal conversion: SATA signal translated to parallel ATA signalling
• Power: uses host or existing power connections depending on setup (external power may be required for some drives)
• Form factor: compact inline adapter for easy installation and removal

How to use

Connect the SATA end of the adapter to the host SATA port and attach the P-ATA/IDE connector to the legacy drive. Ensure the drive receives appropriate power from the system power supply or an external adapter if necessary. After physical connection, power on the system and check the host BIOS or operating system for drive recognition. For cloning or imaging, use your preferred disk utility once the drive is detected. Disconnect the adapter before removing the drive to prevent data loss.

Recommendations

Use the adapter in a powered-off state when making physical connections and confirm power compatibility for the connected drive. For large data transfers or cloning operations, ensure the host system remains stable and avoid interrupting power. Handle older drives carefully to reduce risk of mechanical failure and use verified backup procedures when recovering critical data.
